I was thinking about what my new year’s resolutions should be and I realized that they can not be true resolutions unless I resolve to practice at them. Everyone who has played a sport or had to learn a new skill knows that you have to practice at it to get good at it.
In my last post, I stated that I view people as churches and that helps me to be pure. When I blurted this to my friend, I realized that I had been practicing that view for years. When I am in the coffee shop, at potential customer’s house or any where, I had been saying to myself: “Christ lives in him/her/them.”
If you have read my past posts on the “We principle”, you know that I understand that Jesus and the Holy Spirit live in each of us and I can’t do anything good without them. My mind set is ‘we do this or love that person’. But I don’t think that way all the time. I need to practice that more………reread the last sentence. I did it again……….We need to practice more because I have been lazy.
I think my biggest new year’s resolution this year is going to be to ask God for help more often. My most common request for help will be in the area of practice.
To continue on my journey toward and with Jesus I need to practice the Catholic mindsets that are so different from the world's.
It is not enough for me know my faith, I must live it. I need help and I need practice. Can you name one professional athlete that does not practice? How about one that does not have a coach?
I also need to read about more saint’s lives. These are people that have done it. Any good salesperson has read books about sales techniques and studied what the great sales people did that worked. Why not apply that to theology?
It is a humbling when I think about all the areas I need help with.
“You died for me my Lord, so that I might ask for you for help and with your love, We can love others like you love them. HELP ME LORD!”
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
